Lamberts Healthcare Hawthorn extract is produced from hawthorn leaves and flowering tops and it is standardised upon its flavonoid content of 2% making it a high potency product. They have use leaves harvested during the autumn as they contain higher concentrations of procyanidins at this time of year. Modern scientific investigations have identified a number of important "actives" (flavonoids and proanthocyanidins), in the flowering tops and leaves of the Hawthorn plant. These compounds appear to have a powerful role within collagen, the substance found within blood vessel walls and the heart.
