Food Allergy
Description
A hypersensitive reaction to specific foods, this type of
Allergy affects only certain individuals in circumstances
that might be innocuous to other people. The most common
allergenic foods include chocolate, dairy products, eggs,
strawberries, MSG and wheat.
It is believed that an
individual who is hereditarily predisposed toward a food
Allergy produces, when sensitised, special weak types of
antibodies (reagins) that give little immune protection
but cause local tissue damage during the antibody-antigen
reaction.
