Chilblains
Description
Chilblains occur in the very cold weather when small blood
vessels under the surface of the Skin in the hands and feet
constrict. This will usually cause a red or purple swelling
on a toe or a finger and an itchy feeling. It is very important
for those who are susceptible to chilblains, such as the
elderly, to keep their hands and feet warm during the winter.
This should help to prevent them forming.
