Capillary Fragility

Description
The smallest blood vessels of the body, capillaries extend throughout all tissues in great abundance. Easily damaged, capillary walls are only one or two cell layers thick, but are responsible for transporting large quantities of blood. If a capillary experiences damage, the blood it contains flows into the surrounding tissue, causing bruising, discolouration and swelling of the overlying Skin.

Many women develop "spider veins" during Pregnancy and as a result of Aging. These occur when blood pools in capillaries due to the ineffectiveness of pre-capillary sphincters, which aid the constant flow of blood through the body.
