Bunion
Description
A fluid filled pad overlying the big toe joint, which causes
the joint at the bottom of the toe to bend outwards and
the top to bend inwards. Can be very Painful. A bunion results
from the shoe rubbing against this outward projection, causing
irritation and Inflammation. This can be caused by wearing
ill-fitting or narrow, pointed shoes, or through an inherited
joint weakness.
Correctly fitting shoes
and a special toe pad will help to correct small bunions,
whilst larger ones may require surgery.
