DESCRIPTION
Bloating occurs when intestinal gas accumulates, causing
the abdomen to become distended and uncomfortable. Most
commonly caused by the inability to digest a certain food,
bloating may also be indicative of a more serious disorder
like Irritable bowel syndrome or Ulcerative colitis.
Some people develop an
"intolerance" to certain foods (like lactose,
for example) when they have a deficiency of the enzyme needed
to digest the substance. A food intolerance often results
in bloating.
