Baldness
Description
Baldness (alopecia) is the partial or complete loss
of hair. There are many forms of this condition, including
spotty baldness, male pattern baldness, and female pattern
baldness. At this time, there are no cures or preventative
measures for alopecia. An individual may choose to have
hair transplants by repositioning scalp plugs containing
active hair follicles to areas where there are none.
Radiation and chemotherapy,
among other more general medical treatments, can cause complete
loss of hair from the head or from the whole body.
